Title: Deprivation and mortality in Scotland, 1981 and 1991.
Author: McLoone P; Boddy FA
Source: BMJ. British Medical Journal. 1994 Dec 3;309(6967):1,465-70.
Abstract: Mortality differentials in Scotland are analyzed by socioeconomic status using census data for 1981 and 1991. The authors conclude that "differences in mortality experience linked to relative poverty increased in the 10 years between [the] 1981 and 1991 censuses. Although mortality for Scotland as a whole is improving, the picture is one of an increasing distinction between the experience of the majority and that of a substantial minority of the population."
