Abstract:

This volume is the product of a symposium held in Riga, Latvia, in December 1989. "The Symposium addressed technical and practical requirements of integrated planning and assessed alternative methodologies for integrating population variables into development planning. Part one of the present volume contains the report and recommendations of the Symposium; parts two to six contain a selection of the papers that were presented." Sections are included on the history of including population factors in development planning, the use of models and projections, population and economic planning, population and sectoral planning, and training for integrated population and development planning. The geographical scope is worldwide. The papers are all in English save one, which is in French. (EXCERPT)
