Abstract:

The group of low-cost programs that have been developed by UNICEF to assist governments of developing countries in reducing infant and child mortality despite financial constraints is described. Such programs include growth monitoring, oral rehydration, breast-feeding, immunization, child-spacing services, food supplements, health education, water and sanitation, and female education.
